Just a dream or a visitation?

Our family dog was very old, he was collected by the rspca at the end of his life, to be put down, as my mum was unable to transport him to a vet.

He had a host of problems.. Epilepsy, cataracts, a huge cyst on his back and frequent ear infections.

Around a week after he died I had a dream about him, he had ran away from wherever he'd been taken to and came back home to us, but he was really well... A good weight and the cyst on his back had gone. In the dream I knew he'd been taken to be put down and so it felt really wierd..

I've never had a close relative or a pet pass away until his point and never had a dream like that.. So I don't know if it's just that I was dreaming of him because he'd died and it was on my mind or because it was like a visitation

I kniw no one can really answer that but just wondered what you all thought

welcome BACK to ALF :) I've just seen you joined nearly two years ago but I'd forgotten as we've seen little of you since. We've had a number of conversations about pets in the past.

The 'rule-of-thumb' for dreams versus visitations is that a dream may be vivid initially but fades and loses importance whereas a visitation is similarly vivid but its effect is more pronounced and the vividness - and the impact it has - stays with one for a very long time.

I don't know if your dream was down to your emotions and wishful thinking or something more than that. Based on the rule-of-thumb I've outlined what do you think it was? You're the best one to judge. ;):)

Hey there. I can't say for sure whether or not you've had a visitation with your dog but it sure does sound like it. Please feel free to share more visitations as they come along.

Hi, hopefully this will help you... bit of a long one this, but hope people enjoy reading....

Since my Dad passed 10 yrs ago I seen him 3 times in dreams, so real it was - he is now 41 yrs old, don't ask me how I know, I do - and he looked so well, curly hair, hardly recognised him at first.

I see images/visions and have strong clairaudience 'clear hearing/knowing' where my spiritual support 'Angel's'Guides'Higher Self' send me instructions to help others daily/weekly.

I would say you had a visit...... I tell you about my dog Giz, he passed away over 6 years ago - he knew stuff I can tell you, taught me so much in my early years of awakening... I can remember when we were nursing my mum in law at home with dementia in her last year here - and I can remember my brother in law coming over to see her in the last few months, and he said what's the matter with that dog - he could pick up on spirit you see 'as though to say can't you see what I can see' - so excited he was, and comfortable with what he could see.

So mum in law passed 2012 - a year or so later Giz in his last week here - the sun was shining a lot, and he would go to the corner of the garden, and I would go to him down on my belly level with him on the grass, and I said to him 'what/who are you looking at' I knew, and probably was Rita, my wife's mum who we had nursed a few years before.

When he was at the vets to put him down, oh that is so hard to discuss. We were there an hour waiting while my wife discussed with her daughters on the phone 'what shall we do' - I remember looking into his eyes, no fear - and if I could have read his mind it seemed like he was looking at me as to say, just tell them to get on with it, it'll be ok - oh did we cry, both of us...

Anyway my psychic skills were beginning to develop and 2 months later my wife still not over him passing, so I keep asking for a sign that he was ok - I knew at the time that humans go to heaven, but didn't know at the time if dogs did. I do now of course, they do - I learned a lot since my NDE in 2015 - and 3 months on I heard him outside our small conservatory one late evening, a sound he used to make, when contented lying on our laps while watching tv.

I'm reading Gordon Smith 'britains best psychic' book and he's spoke to his dog since he passed... I couldn't find this message yesterday for love nore money - so I came on just - asked my Guides and higher Self 'where is it' - got it instantly! right under my nose where I'd been posting earlier, looked everywhere else for it... some will say coincidence, I and others here know different with coincidences...

Hope you're still around from months ago and it helps you, or helps someone else...

I've seen nothing of either thread contributor for many months but hey, ho onward and upward.

I do like the edit button on this - when it scrolls gently open right in front of you... i'll have a look around the site over the next day or two, see if there's anything I can help anyone with...

Interesting story, one-light, thanks. I was awake last night in the night, but asked my son to appear in a dream; something I've never done before. I may have prepped my subconscious in this way to dream the following, but it was worthwhile. In the dream the doorbell sounded and on answering the door a very friendly dog entered the house, trotted down the hall and went into the living room to be greeted with cries of pleasure and recognition. I'll try again in a while, but like the white squirrel appearing "within two weeks", which has worked three times in a row now, I wouldn't try often as I don't want to push my luck. I had a couple of psychokinetic effects just a couple of weeks ago while reading a book where the character's wife appears to him after her death. I know these effects are nowadays thought to be the self projecting trauma outwards, but sometimes there are complications with an attached apparition, which spices things up.

Sounds like you got a lot going on there Ruby, keep your energy vibrations 'vibes' up while all this is going one - we are always learning aren't we, never stops - its even busy in the night/dreams for many of us...
