dinosaurs? what the hell were they about?

I feel sure I must be annoyingly smug and increasingly blasé concerning the simple notion of survival. As I mentioned elsewhere here I've been "at this stuff" half of my incarnate life. Now I don't bother much about these matters but for a long time I struggled over the fundamentals and eventually moved on to considering tangential stuff. One of those considerations was what this world used to be like for the spirits who couldn't have a human form to animate because humans had yet to emerge.

As I mentioned elsewhere here recently I see animals somewhat differently from most. Whether I'm right or wrong about animals and pets, in pre-historic times there was nothing more evolved than them for spirits to animate. If my ideas are right, if the tiny, identically-similar parts of The Great Spirit animate everything that lives in this world, then those spirits could only have animated life-forms no more complex than animals. But I guess you might not be persuaded by my thoughts. ;)

What I have regularly wondered about, and what I shall look into when I get 'home' again, is what the hell were all those dinosaurs about? Why did such strange, gigantic animals live and evolve? Why did such absurdly huge carcasses live at all, animated by spirits just like our own.

Did they lead lives in those massive bodies in order to experience life incarnate and progress spiritually? Our own reasons for incarnating are much the same (I contend) but we live in forms much more compact and hugely more complex. So what were the dinosaurs all about?

Maybe one of your incarnations was as a dinosaur, mac!

I can’t be 100% sure without going back and looking, but I think either Roberta or someone else said that the dinosaurs were put here to test out and prepare the Earth for our arrival, meaning humans.

I could be wrong, though.

I don't know that I've ever pondered this before, lol....but I suppose if we are all sparks of the divine, then that would include dinosaurs as well. I suppose maybe I'm an animist at heart? :) If souls exist, then we are all souls regardless of the bodies we inhabit.

Scientifically speaking, I'm sure the dinosaurs evolved because they were suitable for the environment at the time. On a more whimsical note, maybe we just wanted to try being big, lumbering creatures? ;)

Roberta? It doesn’t much matter what anyone has said about the dinosaur age. No single individual has any more idea than any other – all each has is opinions.

I approach the matter from one I’ve explained on several occasions here on ALF using the simple principle that souls/spirits who are from source (as we are) animate physical beings whether they’re human or animal. Using that principle dinosaurs were animated just as we are animated.

But why would such absurdly huge bodies be the outcome all those millions of years ago, I ask myself? And why? That’s why I posed the question even though I know it's unanswerable this side of the divide. It’s why I’m gonna take a look into it when I’m back on the right side to do it - always assuming I feel as I do know and always assuming I can be arsed to do it!

I always allow for my not having a clue how I'll feel after I have made the transition from here to over-there. I do not enjoy the certainty fellow members here have about their own feelings after they pass over.

Mebbes I have much to experience before I reach their level of certainty? ;)

Well, how large is a soul? If it’s etheric in nature, why would it be limited by physical constraints? I’d think a soul can animate any size body.

What does the size of a soul have to do with what I was discussing?

Your last sentence made me smile!
My ex husband is a big, lumbering creature (we're still friends though, lol)
