Afterlife fears

Well I'm kind of reassured I suppose.
When I'm free of my physical body, I'll see things differently to the way I see them right now?
That sort of makes sense to me in a way.
I'm glad you feel reassured and I hope you stay around. It would be fun for us all to research together. :)

Yes I'll certainly stay around!
May I suggest you take a look around at the many subjects discussed over the years on our various forum boards? See what catches your eye, flick from page to page but don't sweat it if things initially don't make sense.

Life, death and what follows are subjects you might get started on without worrying about reincarnation, angels, God, Heaven and Hell, purgatory or any of that good stuff.

I'm a firm believer in survival of consciousness. I'm also someone who suffers from severe anxiety and I often find myself dwelling morbidly on really terrible things, f.i dying in a fire or being shot or being baked in a large oven (ludicrous though this may sound!). These thoughts only tend to torment me in quiet moments when I'm lying on my bed resting or trying to sleep at night. It can be distressing, but what makes it worse is my fear of all these things becoming a reality in the next "dimension" or whatever. It just terrifies me at times. Also I worry that I'll be forced to suffer these things in an endless series of incarnations on the earth plane.
I know I'm being irrational, but these are genuine concerns. In some ways I'm looking forward to being reunited with friends and loved ones in the spirit world, but I'm also dreading any terrible consequences there may be for these compulsive thoughts.
Help!!
I understand how your feel BiscuitMan but having lost our son last year, I now have no fear of death as all I think of is seeing him and holding him again.

We always fear the unknown and, very often, see it worse than it actually is. I have read a few books now about the Afterlife and believe that our “transition” is made as peacefully and comforting as possible by those loving guides instrumental in and awaiting our arrival back “home”.

I think it is easier for me to feel this way having lost a great love, but we all have to try and find some kind of peace that will guide us along our eternal journey, without too many obstacles.

Hi Ben's Mum. Thanks for your reply and my condolences to you for the passing of your son. It's great that your firm belief in the afterlife is giving you comfort. I've lost quite a few relatives and friends over the years and knowing we'll all be reunited one day gives me great solace too.
After only a few days on this site, I'm beginning to feel much more positive about what I can expect when it's time for me to pass over (and people here are so friendly too!). I hope to learn much more reading posts on the various forums.
