I have been having some problems with my boyfriend over the past year or so. Most of the time he acts normally- friendly, thoughtful, lightly sardonic- but on occasion he seems to go into a trance and become a totally different person for a while. Normally I would assume that it was some kind of mental or chemical problem, but the changes are so extreme and consistent (he even takes on a particular Southern accent, despite never having been to the south) that I have to wonder if he's possessed. We did participate in some silly Halloween thing in an abandoned "haunted" house about a year ago, and these spells have only been coming on since then. Can anybody help me?

Good heavens, what an awful story! One of the hardest things to believe about what the afterlife evidence suggests is the likelihood that spirit possession does happen. Because it is not recognized by mainstream psychiatric practice, few people know very much about it, so I urge you to read a couple of books on the subject before you do anything else. You might start with People Who Don’t Know They’re Dead by Gary Leon Hill and Healing Lost Souls by William J. Baldwin. Then you might try to find a specialist in spirit depossession - the process of coaxing possessing spirits out of their victims and toward the light - but since regulators frown on the practice, I don't know of one to recommend to you. Reading those two books might be a place to start your search. Wendygo, my saying this may not be of direct help to you, but your story is a cautionary tale. No one should EVER use a Ouija board, practice automatic writing, participate in "silly Halloween thing(s)," or in any other way mess with attracting disembodied spirits. Ever! Most earthbound spirits are only confused, but there are some that are downright evil. Good luck to you, my friend - please let us know how it goes!
