There was about 4- 6 elders in the circle with me. I cannot remember much about the dream, other that these elders, seemed wise, and kindly.

I have read recently about there being different learning halls in the afterlife.
It could be that you visited one of these halls. I don't know.

But I do know this - if you ever meet up with Michael Jackson over there, he will probably say this to you:

Billie Jean is not my lover
She’s just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one but the kid is not my son
All cats are the spawn of Satan.

    I agree.

Whenever I have a lucid dream I generally ask myself, what does this mean? How does this help me grow spiritually or morally or intellectually? So regardless of what label you put on your experience, what does it mean for you? It may take time to get an answer. But if the experiences are genuine something Good should eventually come from them.

Hopefully I'm being guided. I Read an informed article recently as well about the real dangers of using an ouja board and automatic writing, so I won't be going anywhere near that either. Funnily enough this article came about, after I wrote on the forum about my own past use of a pendulum to answer questions. So I really do feel that I am being guided.
Ouija boards are advised against other than for experienced and knowledgeable practitioners. Automatic writing carries uncertainties about the identity of the discarnate controller.

A recent edition of 'Psychic News' carried a pendulum piece written by the owner of one of my regular Spiritualist forums. He teaches pendulum use and also psychometry. In the piece he says that one should be neither emotionally involved with, nor attached to, the answer being sought.

All communication with discarnates needs caution about what is received.

Thanks Mac, I certainly won't be meddling with anything that I don't understand, would be very foolish.
And WWE, I reckon I'm going to end up dreaming of Michael Jackson tonight, now you've said that.

Vic, thanks for your advice, re my dream. In my dream, I was being quite dismissive, whan I spoke to the old man regarding his ID. Then a wise voice behind me ( my husbands voice), corrected me. Maybe, I need to look at the way I interact with people.

    Hi All

I haven't started a new thread, as this thread is relevant for my question.

Last night I dreamt of my mother who passed away over a year ago. I've not dreamt of her for over a month now, whearas my dreams of her were quite regular.

My question is, does a person who has passed, who had a gambling addiction, still carry that with them into the afterlife.

Although my mother curbed her addiction quite a bit towards the end, the addiction was still there, and she would have what I call the odd binge day.

When growing up, my mothers addiction caused us and her lots of problems.

In my dream, I found her in a gambling place, and remember becoming lucid, to check out that it was really my mum. I asked for a hug a couple of times, and can recall the real physical closeness and warmth of the hugs. She was slightly distracted because of her gambling. I remember being about to talk of her death, but stopped myself, as I remembered upsetting her an earlier time in another dream when I did this. Someone with me, a man told her to come away from the gambling.

After a while i then said that she could go back to her gambling, which she did. I don't remember anymore, other than remembering my dream when I woke up. I now feel that I should not have given her permission to go back to her gambling.

My question is, would she still be gambling in the afterlife? And would it hinder her spiritual progress?

    Billyjean,
Mikey tells me in Heaven, if an idividual wants to "experience" gambling, they can. Do they actually "win" anything? No. Mikey says experiencing gambling in Heaven does not hinder your spiritual progress. Just like snowboarding for Mikey doesn't affect his progress. Addictions from earth can gradually disappear for an individual in Heaven. The desire becomes less prominent when earthly needs are no longer relevant.
This is what Mikey has to say about this anyway!

Thank you for answering my questions Carol and Mikey. I am glad that her addiction will no longer be an issue, but just for enjoyment.

What does Mickey say about other addictions? Like alcohol and over medicating? Is it possible for the anxiety or under lying pain that feeds those addictions to go away? Others have mentioned here those spirits stay in lower realms. Than you.

    Mokandi,
Mikey tells me to remember that many addictions on earth are desires that often relate to physical "bodily" needs or "drives" that can become over-powering. When we pass, we shed our physical/earthly shell . As we adjust to returning Home to Heaven (or whatever word you choose for the Afterlife), those anxieties or stressors that pushed us to the addiction, dissipate. Earthly-physical needs become less and less relevant. Mikey says to understand there is much loving guidance that is given to help souls with this type of issue. To help them adjust. Do not assume these individuals are in lower realms! Mikey says these souls can be very loving and of higher realms! Understand their addiction may be a life lesson or challenge for someone else. (For the other person to learn love and forgiveness in that situation, for example.) We all have a "role" to play in the big picture. In the end, it is all about love!

(Mac, sorry about being off topic but this question needed to be addressed and it is info helpful to others. )

Not to be off topic, but a person can actually do this here while still living on Earth. If you "purify" self or shed the physical/earthly shell in a preliminary manner, your consciousness shifts to spiritual self, and a number of drastic changes begin to occur. It is quite unsettling at first, as it feels like you no longer have a ground to walk on metaphorically, but if you continue on the shift is an incredible experience. This is what led to my STE, and it is strange how similar my STE was to NDEs.

You have the physical earthly self, which is animalistic in nature; having bodily needs and drives and various desires which are all selfish (even love). Then you have the spiritual self, which is divine in nature. It is capable of unconditional love (true love), unending compassion and forgiveness, is full of peace and bliss, etc.
