Has anyone here been actually dead and been in the afterlife and come back to the same body and the same life ?
Has anyone here been actually dead and been in the afterlife and come back to the same body and the same life ?
Having been active on this forum for over a year, I do not recall anyone with firsthand experience of an NDE. The closest evidence would be Carol and Mikey, Mikey communicates with Carol through a pendulum, and Poeticblue who has OBEs. Others, including myself, have had after death communications (ADCs).
Please share your experiences with us!

Personally I think there is a difference between having a near-death experience (NDE) and going to the afterlife and coming back. I think NDEs occur, but if you actually die the silver cord is broken and you can't come back to the same body.
Depends on what you listen to as guidance. If you believe it can happen you can bet diamonds you'll find someone to tell you a story that they have done what you ask. The world is full of fantasists who can make up any story they wish and you can't test its veracity.
But look to what's been taught by many teachers and guides widely accepted as being spiritually-evolved. You'll learn that once corporeal death has happened - not near-death, not deep coma, not astral projection etc - then it's final. The term you use "actually dead" is wholly appropriate for those who have made the irreversible transition. Any other notion is different than that.
Birki mentions the so-called silver cord which is kinda like the umbilical tether used by space-walking astronauts. If their tether gets severed their physical life ends shortly after. When the 'silver cord' is severed it's the end of the particular physical life that had been led up to that point.
There's no going back, that life is over, corporeal death is the final step.
In Mellen Thomas Benedict's nde, he had been dead from cancer for over an hour, actually died, and came back in the same body. He said he was confused because he thought reincarnation was when you come back in a different body. His nde account is quite intense. Some people say his experience is fraudulent, or at best, an extensive obe. I don't know. From reading his experience, I don't find anything he said hard to believe, especially since a lot of what he said echoes what other nder's have recalled in their accounts. What I find hard to believe is the fact that he had been dead for awhile and came back, but I guess anything is possible.

I recently heard Mellen Thomas Benedict give a talk at a local Universal Unitarian church. His talk was so amazing that I came two days later to hear him talk again. He is a brilliant guy and very charismatic. What I found a little odd is that he is a health fanatic trying to live to be a hundred. It's almost as if he's afraid of death. I wanted to ask him that, but I couldn't build up the courage. He did not talk much about his NDE except to say that he got cancer because he felt at that time that human beings were like a cancer on this planet, ecologically. After he came back and was completely cured of cancer he changed his entire outlook. One of the uplifting things that he said, "Think of any problem out there in the world. There are probably at this very moment at least a thousand people working to solve that problem."

Wow, how interesting. He does seem to be interested in extending physical life here on earth. One thing he said in his account was "the body you are in has been alive forever", I wonder does he mean that the stuff that makes up our bodies has been around forever, or our spiritual body or what. He is a fascinating person to be sure.
Hi Flatliner! Based upon a close reading of the afterlife evidence and lots of NDE accounts, I have come to believe that if you make it to the Summerland as part of a near-death or death-related event, you are not coming back to the same body. Never. I have seen no evidence anywhere that anyone ever has returned after having actually made it all the way there. However, if your body does not actually die...
1) There is lots of evidence that each of us goes to the Summerland many times during our lives while we are asleep. The number of trips that we make there seems to vary by person, but traveling out of body - even if only into the room where we are sleeping - seems to be for most of us a nightly event. And there are reports that many of us spend a lot of time in the Summerland while asleep, visiting with loved ones and taking classes and enjoying a little R&R. Getting through an earth-life is hard work, after all!
2) Bob Monroe and other advanced astral travelers have reported extensive Summerland visits. Essentially, they seem able to do while aware and with memory of the events the same sorts of things that you and I do in the Summerland while our bodies sleep. The difference is that we don't remember it.
So, no, dear Flatliner, there is no evidence that anyone ever has returned from the Summerland to a body that has actually died; but with a living body to return to, going back and forth seems to be a piece of cake!
