Something that is very compelling that discounts the "dying brain theory'" is when I read about an nde where one is returning to their physical body, they describe the discomfort of making their soul "fit" back into their body. One man even described it as "putting back on a dirty sock" or something like that. My own theory is the brain is a transmitter and consciousness is the "whole enchilada", so to speak. When the brain dies, that limiting transmitter is gone, so then you get to see EVERYTHING.

Very well put! This is why death is an illusion, since our consciousness is eternal. But our consciousness gets tainted by our earthly, human experience. This is why so many religions/philosophies at the esoteric level teach us to condition ourselves not to identify with our bodies and our egos but with our higher self, which is loving, kind, gentle and non-judgmental (at least according to my worldview).

The measure we mete (here on earth), is the measure we'll get (in the hereafter).

    With Lovingkindness (metta),

Two quotes that I just read that I thought would be apropos to the discussion about skepticism:

Whether your faith is that there is a God or that there is not a God, if you don’t have any doubts, you are either kidding yourself or asleep. Doubts are the ants in the pants of faith. They keep it awake and moving.
    ~ Frederick Buechner
Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it.
    ~ Andre Gide

    Hi ilovelearninhg.

What is the confusion my friend? Every time that I have an OBE I slowly descend back into my body and feel as though I am trying to "snuggle" back into myself like a circle peg trying to fit back into a triangular hole.... it just doesn't fit..

But we have no choice here on earth do we?? We chose this forsaken body in order to move around this imperfect place so that we can move around this god forsaken plane as well as we can. Forget the science. Forget the logical explanation that our "brain" has something to do with it. What does your heart say? We just cannot fit inside our human selves without a human body so we force ourselves to do so in order to continue on with this earth life. It is the only way we can survive. Just like the only human thing we can do to survive is eat and drink. Without food and water we cannot live. It sucks.. but that is the fact of earth life. It is like fitting into a wet sock like you stated. It just doesn't feel right.. But you know what... its all that we have to work with otherwise you might as well be dead... and that will defeat the whole purpose of coming here right?

So let us fit into that wet sock. Let us grit our teeth down and bear the uncomfortableness.. It is a small price that we have to pay for a great reward that awaits us.

Life feels like a dirty old wet sock to me right now, very much, lol. I'm going through one of those phases where nothing is going right. Sometimes it's challenging to be in this limiting existence in this body when I know there is something more freeing. I know it's for learning, but it can be frustrating. But you're right, we need to bear the uncomfortableness, as you stated. Knowing there is a greater purpose to this is comforting.
