It's risky inasmuch as they don't know if they'll get a fair portrayal by the programme maker. Not all producers will be unbiased and editing can create a wholly different emphasis from what might have been gained if editing hadn't occurred.

And even without any bias the very act of truncating a demonstration can lead to distortion and can be misleading.

No I'm not saying anything about Joe Power. You've seen the programme and like myself you will have reached your own conclusions. What I will make, however, is a general observation about evidential mediums generally; so-called 'spiritual mediums' in the USA.

Mediums are humans and come in all shapes, sizes and flavors. Some will have reliable and predictable 'powers' of being able to act as a go-between for communication between us here and those 'over there'. Others' powers will be less robust. Yet others will be quacks and not mediums at all.

Based on the whole programme, what category would you place Joe Power in?

I think personally i would put Joe Power in the quack category. He is a blatant liar. Im sorry but i got no time for people that scam people grieving over their loved ones.

Yes and I've dealt with this matter on various occasions, in many different places, but this topic is about Derren Brown and not about mediumship etc

A topic search on this website will probably reveal lots of discussions about questionable mediumship etc. but members may want to offer something in this thread too.

Ok yes, your right, i can see your point. I was referring to Derren Brown. yes, More so the fact of how he determines whats real of fake in the video posted. it seems quite fair to me.

I sure hope some other members will chime in.
