What Happens To The Devout When They Die?

Rate this Entry
My aunt is an extremely devout Christian. She truly believes that everything in the Bible is God's Holy Word and that heaven is a place of clouds and harps where we sing in angelic choirs for all eternity. When she dies, what will happen to her? Will she go to the Summerland even though she doesn't believe in it?

When someone dies, where they go is strongly based on what they believe. Accounts from the deceased tell us that, at least immediately after death, people encounter exactly what they think they will encounter. The reason for this is because a person's mind essentially creates the reality in which he will find himself. This happens in the physical plane as well, but to a lesser extent - an example would be how bad things always seem to happen to negative people. In the same way, someone fearing punishment after death might temporarily find himself in hell. Not because it exists (which it doesn't), but because that person believes it exists and thinks he will wind up there.

So in your aunt's case, if her beliefs stay the same until she dies, she will most likely find herself in the Christian heaven that she believes in. This is what is known as a "hollow" heaven because it is not objectively real. There will most likely be other people there, like-minded people who believed what your aunt does. Eventually though, she will be rescued from this hollow heaven by guides and advanced beings working to bring her to the true Summerland, which is much more fun! Everyone gets rescued eventually, so there's no need to worry!
