The Sacred Promise

Gary E. Schwartz, Ph.D., is a living legend. He is a professor of psychology, medicine, neurology, psychiatry, and surgery at the University of Arizona, working strictly within the scientific paradigm. And at the same time he is a cutting-edge researcher investigating the afterlife and the greater reality, and producing some fabulous results! His breakthrough 2002 book, The Afterlife Experiments, detailed the results of double- and triple-blind experiments conducted on a group of prominent mediums, with wonderful results: he showed that his subject mediums were in fact communicating with the dead, with odds against chance of sometimes millions to one. Dr. Schwartz’s 2007 follow-up was The God Experiments, in which he similarly used traditional scientific methods to demonstrate the omnipresence of Mind-energy. Now he comes forward with The Sacred Promise, in which he shares the results of his experiments that demonstrate the active involvement of Spirit in our lives.

I cannot sufficiently emphasize the importance of Dr. Schwartz’s body of work. What we laypeople do in trying to educate the public about death and the afterlife is important, but ultimately it will be the work of open-minded scientists like Gary Schwartz that is going to lead to universal awareness of the fact that reality is spiritual in nature and we are powerful eternal beings.

The University of Arizona is known worldwide for its willingness to countenance spiritual and psychical research, and Dr. Schwartz is one of the primary reasons for its well-deserved reputation. Part of the fun of reading his work is watching him find the delicate edge of University-countenanced spiritual research that can be grants-funded and peer-reviewed, while at the same time he joyously experiences the workings of Spirit in his own life. His book’s title comes from his theory that Spirit has promised an active and positive involvement in our lives, and he has set about establishing a grounding that demonstrates pretty conclusively that Spirit does in fact work closely with us. Some of his experimental results are astonishing! Mung beans grow better when an experimental subject and her guides attempt to influence them spiritually than they do for either the subject or her guides alone. Spirit can influence the speed and degree of wound-healing to an unbelievable extent. Some famous dead folks (including Albert Einstein and Princess Diana) are seeking actively to make their presence known, with the hope of advancing human knowledge. And on and on! It is not surprising that Dr. Schwartz’s work with Spirit has made him a magnet for powerful spiritual energies, with results that are fascinating to read about and clearly are lots of fun for the researcher.

The truth cannot be suppressed forever. And when mainstream science finally exhausts every other unproductive theory and turns reluctantly to exploring a possible Consciousness Theory of Everything, there will be waiting scientists like Gary Schwartz and the teams now working with them in spirit, having already long since laid the foundation.
