Is it possible for people in the "Summerland" layer to hold false beliefs? In other words, can they be factually wrong about anything they tell a medium?

Wow... that's got some serious epistemological implications. Seems like you'd have to say "yes," though, since the alternative would be either A) spirits do not have beliefs, or B) spirits are omniscient.

...Unless I'm wrong ;)

That is a tough one. Roberta's book discusses spirits taking "classes" to learn new things, so the onmiscient thing is right out. Believing in things is a necessary part of knowing things, so that one is out too...

So, yeah. Probably.

The afterlife evidence consistently tells us that simply dying does not bring enlightenment. Indeed, few if any of the dead folks communicating with the living from the Summerland levels are going to know much more than we do, believe it or not. They know that they are still alive -that is the big thing! For most of them, just the amazing fact that they survived the death of their bodies is what they are focused on telling us, and once we get past that then sometimes they will talk a bit about their new surroundings. I have read many accounts of interviews with the dead where their answer to almost all the questions asked was "I don't know," and even a few where the spirit gave answers which were self-aggrandizing nonsense that it promptly abandoned when challenged. The spirits of the dead are just people, after all!
