View Full Version : Could this be a communiation from my grandmother?

So I had a dream last night...it was at the tail end of a few other dreams that I don't really remember, but at the start of this dream I saw my grandmother and it felt different. It wasn't exactly a lucid dream though (I've had one of those before), but similar. I said, "I've been waiting for this!" very joyfully. But she didn't say anything. Also, there were also mirrors on either side of the room and I couldn't see her reflection in the mirrors. There was a bit more to the dream, but that is the main gist of it. Out of the people I know who have died my grandmother is probably the person I am closest to. Any thoughts?

Hi Birki! Yes, I think it is safe to say that this is a communication dream, especially considering how close you were to your grandmother. It is perfectly normal for the deceased not to say anything in these types of dreams. A lot of times, they will just give us a look that says "Well, here I am." or "See, everything's okay."
Since you still remember your dream, even if the whole thing is not clear, it is an indication of communication. We generally tend to remember these dreams better than the nonsensical ones that seem to be works of the brain.
It is interesting that you said you had been waiting for this. Have you been asking your grandmother to contact you? Or have you been harboring that desire? Either way, it is another indication.
I'm not sure about what the mirrors have to do with anything but, if they are indeed important to your grandmother's message, the meaning will come to you in time. Sometimes it takes months for a dream's meaning to be made clear. It just depends on the person.
Thanks for sharing, dear Birki!

Thanks Vita...I don't know that I have been expecting a communication from my grandmother but I have thought that she will be one of my greeters when I die. I actually do remember the whole dream, I just didn't want to post one part of it. :)

Personally, I doubt it was a communication.
But then again: Why not?
I dreamed about my dad last night. I didn't jump to the conclusion that it was a "communication" tho.
I'm a believer but a cautious believer.

Well, like I said this was a different type of dream...I had an "awareness" in the dream that I do not have in regular dreams. So that is why I wondered. It was not simply a dream with my grandmother in it, or about my grandmother - she was the reason for the dream. Of course I don't know for sure, but it would be great if it was. Either way, though, I know she is close.

I think it was a communication! Especially because you remember the whole thing. Most dreams we forget a few hours after we wake up.

Birki is right, dear GypsyBlue, communication dreams have a special type of awareness. It is almost impossible to understand what this feels like until you have actually experienced it. If you feel like sharing more details about your dream about your father, I could provide my insight as to whether or not it could be a communication dream. It's up to you. I understand if you don't want to share.
As Roberta said to someone else on the forums yesterday, it is good to be skeptical somewhat, but you want to be careful not to go overboard. I think that the person who is most able to tell if a dream is a communication dream is the person who had the dream - they best know their relationship to the deceased, and if the deceased would act the way they did in the dream.

Since you do remember the whole dream, that is more validation of that fact that this was a communication dream! Of course, you have a right to your privacy so please don't share if you are not comfortable with it.
I would go with your gut instinct, dear Birki! Typically you know, deep down, if it's real or not. You're right though - either way your grandmother is close! :)

Mikey says absolutely dreams are a means of communication when a loved one is present in it, especially when you remember details. To doubt this , is your loss. Mikey says dreams can be one of the most loving ways to communicate, because you can "see" your loved one! You should "embrace" it! With dreams, there is often an underlying message.

It really is great, the concept of communication dreams, when you think about it, huh? This is a way for you to actually see your deceased loved ones, face to face. Even though you seemingly cannot control when it happens, it is a lot better than nothing! I think these types of dreams really do bring comfort to a lot of people!

Yet again, dear wonderful Carol and Mikey, I love your insights! Indeed, in my experience genuine communication dreams can be highly symbolic, so as you think about them you see additional subtle but meaningful details. Sometimes the dead speak, but often they do not - dear Birki, the symbolism of the mirrors without reflections in them is one of the reasons why I think this dream may well have been a communication dream. As to what it might mean, I have some ideas but you know your grandmother. Any thoughts?

Thanks Carol and Mikey and Roberta. I don't really know about the mirrors. The only thing I can think is becuase I didn't see her reflection in the mirror, I knew she was "dead" and it was not simply a dream about her when she was alive...not sure if that is it or not.

That was my first thought, too: symbolically it says, "I'm dead - no reflections in the mirror - but I'm alive! Look at me!!"
